Welcome to my world.
I never have enjoyed talking about myself.  I can never find anything to say, and quite frankly, I find  myself the least
interesting of people.  Others, with their infinitePicture of author in dark blouse diversity, are much more intriguing!  As far as the basics go, I was born
and raised in Los Angeles and developed a taste  for mystery, science fiction, and suspense from a very early age, reading
my father's collection  of old Amazing, Astounding, and Black Mask.  Our home library was an eclectic one, with books  by
Ngaio Marsh, Agatha Christie,  E. Phillips Oppenheim, and Edgar Rice Burroughs.  We made weekly excursions to the local library and came home with as many books as the library allowed.

I graduated from high school, went to a communty college to study stage craft, and then transferred to UCLA as an art major.  When I went to work, it was first as a technical artist, then a technical writer, and finally as manager of a technical writing
group for a major corporation.   I sold my first story, "Eat, Drink, and Be Merry" to near-legendary editor John Campbell,
and followed that with other short story sales  to magazines and anthologies.  In the years since then I have written novels as
well as short stories, and occasional non-fiction.

In 1994 my husband, two cats, and I moved to a rural area of Northern California where I began writing the Mark Stoddard mysteries and planning the Captain Spycer novels; rolicking SF comedies modeled on the wonderful old Captain Future series by SF great Edmond Hamilton. Around this time, I realized that eBooks are not only the modern version of the old well-loved pulps, but that they provide modern readers with a perfect opportunity to build personal electronic libraries; libraries that hold the text of hundreds of books and still fit in a jacket pocket.  This may be the best advance in the written word since Gutenburg came along!  I am delighted to be part  of this innovation in writing, and I hope you enjoy my contributions to the world of electronic books.
