This table lists the spring arrival dates for some migrant and summer resident birds in Potter Valley, Cailfornia during the period 1971-2003. These are the first dates the birds were seen in a given year. For species where I was able to determine three or more arrival dates over the years, I have taken an average. I have included dates for some species which I seldom see, such as Vaux's Swift, Lazuli Bunting, and Blue-gray Gnacatcher, but these dates are undoubtedly too late, and need to be revised. Some species appear to arrive later in Potter Valley than other inland areas in the county (Cassin's Vireo, Western Tanager), and others appear to arrive earlier (Barn Swallow, Western Kingbird). -- George Chaniot
