Disneyland Tickets

Yes, the rising price for your Disneyland tickets has been a constant even in the Happiest Place on Earth. The value of your Disney Dollars keeps falling, and it would seem that the rate of inflation at Disneyland has outpaced that of the nation. Here's a little example:

1987 2-Day Passport
1987 2-Day Magic Kingdom Club Passport cost (with Discount) $32.50

1989 2-Day Passport
1989 2-Day Magic Kingdom Club Passport cost (with Discount) $38.25

1990 2-Day Passport
1990 2-Day Magic Kingdom Club Passport cost (with Discount) $42.00

1995 2-Day Passport
1995 2-Day Magic Kingdom Club Passport cost (with Discount) $53.00 and in 1996, the price rose to $55.00. In 1998, the price for a two-day MKC passport is $64.00!!! Of course, that beats the current (2001) one day adult price of $43.00. Multi-day Park Hopper Tickets are available now also. A three day ticket is $111.00, and a four day ticket is $137.00, both adult prices. But the best news is that a five-day Flex Passport is only $4.00 more!
Flex Passport

The best deal going is the five day flex passport to Disneyland. The price at the ticket booth for 2000 is now $99.00 for an adult. If you plan to visit disneyland more than twice in any 12 month period, you should seriously consider an Annual Passport. These are available at different pricing levels, depending upon whether you are satisfied with accommodating various "blackout" dates (dates when your passport is not valid) or you want to visit anytime the park is open, regardless of the season or date. A limited Annual Passport starts at about $129.00 (not valid during busy summer months and certain holiday periods) or a Premium Passport (valid year round, 365...) for $199.00. You can actually order your Park Hopper Tickets or other Disneyland tickets on-line by selecting this link. Disneyland is a great place, but it isn't inexpensive. Here's my annual passport, just so you know what they look like.

As long as we're discussing tickets, it might be a time to go back even further in time. Below are two examples of ticket books. The top book is from about 1970. As you can see from the picture in the middle, a book of 11 adventures, with A through E tickets was $5.35 for an adult. The bottom book is from 1956, contained 7 tickets plus a general admission (A through C only; D came later and E not until 1959) and cost only $2.50 for an adult.

Here's a B ticket from 1956. Note the rides are a ticket or 25 cents. Note also this ticket features the legendary Phantom Boats in Tomorrowland, the Mickey Mouse Theatre in Fantasyland, and the long, long gone Conestoga Wagons in Frontierland. Or a quarter to enjoy any one of them.

Finally, here's one of the last E tickets, before they faded into Disney history to be replaced by passports.
