The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens are located just 35 miles from Kathy's studio...how lucky is that! These gardens, which are located in Fort Bragg CA, cover 47 acres from Highway 1 to the Pacific coast bluffs. Even the parking lot is full of Calla Lilies that bloom from early spring to late summer. Kathy has purchased many interesting plants from the gift store there, which are now part of her garden. Within the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, there are large rhododendrons, lilies, roses, dahlias, and wild flowers. There is also a sheltered area with hanging baskets of blooming begonias. Kathy Lewis has not only drawn inspiration from the many flowers in the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, but she was also, on several occasions, one of the jury-selected artists in the yearly event, "Art in the Gardens," displaying her watercolor and oil paintings of flowers.
