The Clubs I Call For...
The Ukiah Promenaders are the club for whom I began calling first.  That was the beginning of April in 1994, and I'm still calling for them at this time.  The Promenaders dance on Thursday nights, from 7:00 to 10:00 PM at the Ukiah Senior Center on Leslie St.  For information, you can email me or Will & Jenny McGinn.
I began calling for the Konocti Kickers about two years after I started calling.  The Kickers dance on Thursday afternoons, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, at the Orchard Shores Clubhouse in Clearlake Oaks.  The clubhouse is located just east of the town of Clearlake Oaks at 500 Orchard Shores Drive.  Contact Dee & Weldon Parker for information.
Since I was born in Fort Bragg (and attended numerous dances there both before and shortly after birth :), it was a real treat for me to become the club caller for the Redwood Coasters there.  I currently share that duty with Fort Bragg resident Ed Tausig, and call on the second and fourth weeks of the month.  The Coasters dance on every Tuesday night at the Trinity Lutheran Church.  For information, you can email Robert & Susie HorvatJan & Bob Strecker or Ray Duff.  They also have a web site.
Starting in September of 2004, I became the caller for the Humboldt Hoedowners in Eureka twice a month.  They're a long-established club (having celebrated their 50th anniversary a couple of years ago) for which my friend Joe Saltel was the club caller for many years.  It won't be easy to try to follow Joe's example!

The Hoedowners dance on Monday nights at the Veterans' Hall at the corner of 10th & H in Eureka.  They do square dancing on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, and round dancing with Joan & Wayne Tonini on the 2nd and 4th Mondays.  Contact Don Biasca or Doris Nitsch for info.

I started calling for the Singles & Pairs in Santa Rosa during September, 2005.  At one time, back before I moved to the area, they were the largest club in Sonoma County.

The Singles & Pairs dance on Wednesday evenings, 7:00-10:00, at Monroe Hall in Santa Rosa.  Contact Carroll Albertson for info.

This isn't a club, as such, but I've been a member of the Square Dance Callers' Association of Northern California since I began calling.  I've held several offices within the association (although I resisted becoming  President :), most recently Secretary.  You can also visit their web site.
I've also belonged to the Square Dance Callers' Association of the Sacramento Valley since about 1999.  They were kind enough to let me call at one of their dances even though I wasn't a member at the time -- so I figured that joining would be the right thing to do!  I've known several of the callers in this association since I danced with the Cal Aggie Square Dancers at UC Davis.  Unfortunately, in November of 2006 the Association disbanded due to a lack of participation from its members.
