DOES HELL HAVE TO FREEZE OVER BEFORE JANET RENO
APPOINTS A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR TO INVESTIGATE
ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN FUNDRAISING IN THE WHITE HOUSE?

We all know the fox cannot be trusted to guard the hen house. Therefore, we can't expect the Democrats or the Republicans to pass any significant reform of the campaign finance and electoral systems. We challenge the Democratic and Republican parties to pass legislation that meets the following criteria:

• Reverse Buckley v. Valeo (1976) which grants freedom of speech rights normally reserved for individuals to corporations,thus making any real campaign finance reform unconstitutional.
  
• Take private money's corrupting influence out of politics by instituting public financing.
  
• Prohibit use of "soft money" or independent expenditures to pay for any election related activities.
  
• Outlaw PAC contributions or expenditure of PAC funds to influence elections.
  
• Establish a voluntary campaign spending limit achievable by all candidates.
  
• Create free and equal access to the public airwaves for ballot qualified candidates at every level.
  
• Totally eliminate corporate money in any election campaign.
  
• Add a binding "none of the above" category to the ballot.
  
• Hold elections on two non-working days.
  
• Implement proportional representation guaranteeing seats to all parties with more than 5% of the popular vote.

HOW MANY MORE CORRUPT POLITICIANS CAN WE TOLERATE? HOW MANY MORE JOBS CAN WE AFFORD TO LOSE? HOW MANY MORE PRISONS MUST WE BUILD BEFORE WE FIX OUR SYSTEM?

We see only two choices; complain endlessly to no avail, or do something fundamentally DIFFERENT. Go to the polls in the years 1998 and 2000 and elect a new government. HELP US BUILD A NEW NATIONAL PARTY WHOSE INTENTION IS TO REPRESENT THE MAJORITY, NOT CORPORATE OR SPECIAL INTERESTS. Let's break the duopoly of the Democratic and Republican Parties.

All concerned Americans please stand up! Dump the Democratic and Republican parties. They can't fix the system, they're part of the problem.

Please join with us to help bring about the nonviolent social and political revolution that is long overdue in our country. Don't give your power away by not voting and feeling helpless. Our job is to be informed, to vote and to hold our representatives accountable. Just remember, it is WE THE PEOPLE who will be in those voting booths and WE ARE THE MAJORITY.
